Materials

You’ll need to decide what fabrics you want to use for your jacket. Mary gives tips on choosing your fashion fabric, lining, batting and thread.

Piecing & Embellishing

Sew along with Mary as you prepare your pattern pieces and sew together the components of your jacket. Mary shows how you can embellish your seams and how to attach the lapels.

Quilting the Layers

Now it’s time to start quilting! Mary discusses how to plan your quilting lines and start quilting your pattern pieces. She also shows you some fun variations to try.

Construction: Darts & Seam Finishes

Learn how to sew darts in your quilted garment and finish the seams. Mary demonstrates the Hong Kong seam and other decorative seam finishes you can try.

Construction: Sleeves & Collar

Mary walks you through the process of sewing in the sleeves and attaching the collar. She also demonstrates how to prepare and sew a flat-felled seam.

Binding

You’ll want to bind the edges of your jacket for a clean finish. Mary explains how to prepare the edges, sew bias strips and attach them to your jacket to create the binding.

Finishing Touches

Your jacket is almost ready to wear! Learn how to add closures and optional shoulder pads to complete your work of art. Get ready for oohs and ahs!
