Stories are one the most ancient teaching tools. When we read or watch stories, we can learn vital skills for understanding and living with our fellow human beings from the characters and what they experience.
In this course, there are five sections. Section one is the introduction to the course and a bit about me and my credentials.
The second section is about the tools for analyzing stories using the elements of storytelling, plot and character, given circumstances, setting, and language in written stories. In visual stories, there are technical elements such as, lighting, costumes and makeup, sound, and music.
Section three gives basic questions anyone can use to discuss any story. I also give resources for further exploration, and how to organize your thinking about a story.
Section four is all about the benefits of analyzing stories. There are six skills we can learn from them, such as better communication, critical thinking and understanding human behavior and emotions. We can also learn to deepen our compassion, empathy and emotional intelligence from the characters, what they experience, and the decisions they make.
